MATERIALS USED
Vinar Slotted Angle Shelving System components are manufactured from high quality, cold rolled (CR) and hot rolled (HR) sheets produced by Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) & TISCO conforming to Indian Standard specification (IS: 513 & 1079/10748).
The finished shelving system conforms to IS :8081
PRE-TREATMENT PROCESS
Hot phosphating process conforming to class-B of IS:3618 is carried out before painting of all items made from CR/HR Steel Sheets. The phases are as follows:-
- De-greasing
- De-rusting
- Phosphating
- Passivating
Testing/inspection after phosphate treatment:
- Visual Tests
- Test for weight of coating
PAINTING PROCESS
The paint used is of a specific grade and colour, manufactured specially by BAICL, is given the standard nomenclature of “VINAR GREY”.
Components (suspended from an overhead chain conveyor), are either dipped in paint tank or passed through paint shower at a controlled viscosity. This system ensures that the edges, slots and folded surfaces of each and every component is evenly painted.
HEAT TREATMENT (BAKING)
All the painted, components are moved into a baking chamber which has a controlled temperature of 120 degree Centigrade.
The above treatment imparts a hard, abrasion resisting, durable/consistent surface finish with a minimum of 20 micron DFT.
Following Inspection/Testing are carried out after painting conforming to relevant part/sec. of IS:101:-
- Visual Inspection
- Adhesion Test (Bend Test)
- Impact Resistance Test
- Scratch Hardness Test
- Corrosion Resistance Test (Neutral Salt Spray Test)
ELECTRO-GALVANISING
Bolts and Nuts are electrogalvanised for rust protection & conform to IS: 3655.
PACKING
Slotted Angles are packed in bunches of 10 – 16 each (depending on size) and wrapped with corrugated cardboard. Each bunch is bound together with steel wires.
Shelves are also similarly packed and hooped with plastic straps. Small components like corner plates, bolts and nuts are packed in wooden boxes.
INSPECTION/QUALITY CONTROL
Each batch of components is randomly checked at the following stages:
- Raw material procuring
- Cut-to size/Shearing
- Slot punching/Notching
- Bending and folding
- Fabrication
- Pre-treatment/hot phosphating
- Stoving enamel Painting
- Packing
